Dear P255Q Families, September 13th is the first day of school and the 255Q school community is excited to come together for a safe, healthy and productive school year! I recognize that you may have some questions or concerns about how it will look like this year for your child, but be confident that as a team we will work together to make this a great year. Throughout February all sites spent some time focussing on the valuable contribution of black artists, musicians, scientists, civil rights activists and other notable African Americans to US history. Here are some photos of our work.
We have been celebrating Respect for Al Cultures Week at 255. Here is a wonderful Digital Quilt created by the remote students at 397. Click on the quilt to open. Then click on the patches to zoom in. You can return to the whole quilt by clicking on the logo in the corner.
Many of our neighbors in NYC will go hungry due to circumstances related to the COVID crisis. P255Q has launched a food drive to support CITY HARVEST and we hope you will join us by making a healthy food donation. If you are able to participate, it couldn’t be easier to do.
Pick out and purchase the food you would like to donate and it will be delivered directly to CITY HARVESTonce the drive is over. People struggling with food insecurity also struggle with high rates of diet related health issues due to lack of access to healthy food. Our food drive is designed to help them with the kind of food they really need. Thanks for your support!

This is the schedule for when school buildings reopen for in-person learning. As Chancellor Richard Carranza announced on November 29, all blended learning students across all grade levels in District 75 will return to in-person instruction beginning Thursday, December 10.
IMPORTANT: If your child is in Grade 1 or above and you opted for in-person learning, below you will find the upcoming cohort schedule and additional information about completing consent or exemption forms:
Please note that one of these consent forms is requiredin order for your child to be able to participate in in-person learning** If a form is not submitted, your child will be moved to REMOTE only LEARNING.

On behalf of our school’s administrative team and staff, we want to thank you for partnering with us as we journey through the 2020-2021 school year. On Wednesday 18th November, we received the news that schools in the NYCDOE will be operating with full time remote instruction for all students. The purpose of this letter is to give you an outline of what to expect while our buildings are closed. Please know you can always contact us at any time and we will be in constant communication as we proceed.
All students regardless of their cohort assignment will be expected to participate in remote learning everyday with their classroom teacher and cluster teachers using the google classroom platform
Related Service Providers will continue to follow the same schedules they set up for your child and all services will be provided remotely
The school day for all students will remain the same starting at 8:30am and ending at 2:00pm
Teacher office hours will be from 2:00-2:20pm everyday which will allow for you to communicate and engage with your child’s teachers
Please make every effort to have your child participate in live learning sessions offered throughout the school day

By 8:30am daily, work and/or activities will be posted in your child’s google classroom for your child to complete throughout the day
We understand this shift from blended to remote learning is challenging and your child’s team will work with you as best as possible to encourage daily attendance and engagement. Please make sure that your child participates in the live sessions that we have mentioned above. We are here to support you in any way that we can. Please see the attached schedule on the next page for your reference.
